Eldredge Public Library provides access to high quality databases that can provide you with reliable information on a variety of topics. This information is often not available on the "free" Internet. The following databases are provided by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, the Massachusetts Library System, and the Eldredge Public Library.

The Encyclopedia BritannicaContains the Britannica Online Public Library Edition Reference Center with a link to Britannica for Kids.

 

Search the full text of The New York Times Newspaper (1985 - ).

 

Newspaper articles from the Boston Globe (1980-current ) provided by Proquest.  Each issue is indexed thoroughly, so they have access to not only top news stories but also the information contained on the various sections of the paper. The indexing covers not only complete bibliographic information but also companies, people, products, etc.

HeritageQuest Online is designed specifically for patrons in public libraries who are either just beginning their family research or who after years of work are still uncovering their past. With over 25,000 books, the entire U.S. Federal Census, and other expanding collections, HeritageQuest Online gives any library the chance to tap in to one of the largest collections of genealogy material in the country.

Science Database is a definitive resource for students studying both the applied and general sciences. With coverage dating back to 1986, ProQuest Science Journals features over 1030 titles, with more than 760 available in full text. Search over 2.7M records, dating back to the mid 1980s.

These databases are available from home to Eldredge Public Library card holders. Anyone can access the databases from within the Eldredge Public Library.

NoveList is a fiction database that provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 120,000 fiction titles. It also includes other content of interest to fiction readers, such as Author Read-alikes, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, and Feature Articles. For school media specialists and teachers there are Standards- Based Thematic Units and Picture Book Extenders, as well as specific teaching guides for using fiction in the classroom.

hoopla mosaicHoopla is a digital media service that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone - and even your TV! With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. We have hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, with more being added daily.  All you need is your Eldredge Public Library card and an email address.

Freegal Music by Library Ideas allows library users to download songs in MP3 format from Sony Music's catalog of  artists. You will need your Eldredge Public Library card to access. There is a limit of 3 downloads a person per week. This service will allow the library to increase the size and diversity of our collection by offering access to  hundreds of thousands to titles.

Morningstar Investment Research Center is one of the leading independent sources for stock analysis and  mutual fund research in the world - helping investors everywhere meet their financial goals. The online database ensures that users receive the timeliest data on 14,500 U.S. and foreign companies and 500  funds.

  The Cape Cod Times newspaper database offers full text artices from November 1, 1998 to current editions.

 

AtoZ World Food is an online resource that contains more than 7,000 traditional recipes from 174 countries, along with thousands of ingredient, food culture, and reference articles, making it the largest food database of its kind.

 

Consumer Reports is an online resource that provides trusted ratings and reviews, recommendations and buying advice for thousands of products and services.

 

Kanopy allows users to enjoy critically acclaimed movies, inspiring documentaries, award-winning foreign films and more for free with your EPL Clams card.

Attention Genealogists:  Ancestry is offering temporary home access to Chatham patrons.  You must have a current Chatham CLAMS card to access  the database.   Click HERE to access the temporary database.   

This databases is provided by the Eldredge Public Library but there is no remote access from home. Any patron can access the database from within the Library.

 Ancestry.com is a genealogy database where users can search for ancestors, census records, obit collection, US Immigration collection and birth, marriage and death records.
