Plimoth Patuxet Museums brings to life the history of Plymouth Colony and the Indigenous homeland. Major exhibits include the Patuxet Homesite, 17th-Century English Village, Mayflower II and Plimoth Grist Mill.

The award-winning Roger Williams Park Zoo is home to hundreds of rare and fascinating animals from around the world. The zoo's population numbers over 1000 animals, with some 139 different species on display at any given time.

As an early museum experience for children, the environment is informal, but the purpose is serious. The Museum is famous for its Dexter rhododendrons that bloom late May into early June. The beautifully landscaped grounds are a naturalized woodland park on the edge of upper Shawme Pond. A Shaker round barn houses the J. K. Lilly III Antique Automobile Collection with its stunning display of antique automobiles. The American History Museum exhibits military miniatures, antique toys, Native American artifacts and the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame. An operating hand-carved carousel and many of America’s most distinguished artists’ works are on exhibit in the Art Museum. There are many activities and programs planned throughout the year.

The Museum of Science inspires lifelong learning and an appreciation of science. The main exhibit halls are always changing but usually include both natural and physical science exhibits. The Museum also offers a Butterfly Garden, Omni films, Planetarium show, 3-D cinema, live presentations and so much more. Fun for all ages.

The USS Constitution Museum serves as the memory and educational voice of USS CONSTITUTION, by collecting, preserving, and interpreting the stories of "Old Ironsides" and the people associated with her. The New Bedford Whaling Museum offers complete coverage of 19th and 20th century whaling history and technology. Among its displays is a half-scale whale ship, whale bones, whaling tools, and many other artifacts. The museum offers many educational programs and activities that will engage both children and adults.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has generously provided the library with two Massparks passes as part of their Use Nature As Your Library Program.  The pass entitles the bearer to free parking for one vehicle (excluding vans or buses) at over 50 facilities in the Massachusetts State Park system that charge a day-use parking fee.  This includes Nickerson State Park in Brewster.  Check out their website for information on parks, recreational activities and programs in Massachusetts. Valid only on vehicles with Massachusetts license plates.
