Join art historian Mary C. Woodward to explore the career, subjects and life of the artist recognized as the finest portriat painter in Colonial America. Born in Boston in 1738, Copley rose from an impoverished start to move in Boston’s highest social circles through his self-taught talent, industrious work ethic and ambition. Mary Woodward has spent more than 45 years in the museum and historic home business, having earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Art History. She is currently Vice President of the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth and oversees collections for the Captain Bangs Hallet House Museum.
